Sleeping Beauty

A brief synopsis

Most fairy stories begin at the beginning, this one is a bit different.
When the play opens we find Goody, a fairy in the forest.
She has been waiting, hoping that one day a prince will come, a
prince who will wake Sleeping Beauty, and thereby break a curse
that she cast many years before. Suddenly a prince does arrive,
chased by an ogre. Goody saves him. Using her magic she then
shows the prince the events that led her to cast the curse, and how
it came to be fulfilled. Terrified by her story, the prince flees.

Then a strange woman arrives. She is a queen, but not a human
one, she is an ogress! She is also pregnant, and very near to
giving birth. Could her half-ogre, half-human baby son be the prince
who can break the curse? Goody is hopeful, and returns to the
queenπs castle. Some years later, with the prince now grown to
be a dashing young man, Goody tells him of the palace guarded
by thorns where Sleeping Beauty lies. He defeats the thorns,
kisses Beauty, and she wakes.

A few years later the prince and Beauty return to his mother
's castle,
together with their own two infant children, Rose and Hector. They
have been followed by the ogre, now freed from Goody
's spell. The
palace slaves are terrified, but soon Rose and Hector are in even
greater danger from the prince
's mother. Goody, now a servant of
the queen, tricks her and saves the children
's lives. When Beauty
discovers the truth about her mother-in-law she runs away, into the
forest, chased by both ogre and ogress. The Prince follows in hot
pursuit and Goody follows behind, desperate to make everything
right. Finally they all meet in a wooded glade.
