Harleston Players Youth Theatre Company is open to all youngsters aged between 9 and 15 years. The youth theatre company was originally set up back in 2004 by David Cumming and Meryl Keeble. Over the years, the group has welcomed lots of directors who have taken the group from strength to strength with productions like Animal Farm, The 39 Steps, The Snow Queen and Black Sail, White Sail – The Legend of Theseus, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Cinderella and many more! The last production that the group performed was The Wizard of Oz in the Summer of 2024.
Harleston Players Youth Theatre Company has been on hiatus, but we are back with an ambitious and magical new musical production of Disney’s Frozen Jr. by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Jennifer Lee. Click
here to find out more. We normally do two plays each year – one in the autumn and one in the spring. We rehearse two nights a week (currently Tuesdays and Fridays) from 6.00pm till 8.00pm at Jays Green Community Centre in Harleston.
At the beginning of the rehearsal process, we have one or two introductory workshops/auditions to read through the script and allocate parts. Everyone is welcome, whether you have acted before or not, and we don’t turn anyone away. Everyone who wants to be in a show is given a part, and we try to keep everyone as busy as we can during rehearsals and performances – after all, you haven’t come to sit around. To help with the costs of the production, there will be a small fee involved.
We are an inclusive group and always on the look out for new faces, not only to act on stage, but to also help backstage including props, lighting and sound too! So if you’d like to be part of an amazing experience putting on a play or musical (to a public audience – not just family and friends!), Harleston Players Youth Theatre Company is the place for you!
