Written by Phil Wilmott and based on the 1940’s BBC radio serial, Dick Barton faces new and hilarious stage adventures.
When Britain’s entire tea supply is threatened to be poisoned, he soon finds himself wrapped up in an adventure soaked with intrigue and mystery. Along with faithful companions Jock and Snowy, he faces off against arch enemies Marta Heartburn and Baron Scarheart, battles with killer ants, all the while finding time to sing a few songs along the way – and of course, saves the day!
Auditions will be held on Sunday 3rd December 2.30pm – 5.00pm and Tuesday 5th December 7.30pm -10.00pm at Jays Green Hall, Harleston.
Performance Dates: 19th , 20th , 23rd - 27th April 2024. (9 performances)
Rehearsals start Monday 12th February.

Characters:
Dick Barton/ Snowy White Classic, upper class, stiff upper lip English hero of the 30’s and 40’s.
Snowy White Barton’s east end side kick, he also looks like Barton, so for purposes of the plot he is played by the same actor.
Jock Anderson Barton’s other sidekick, Jock is, surprise, surprise, a tough dour Scotsman. More Glasgow docker rather than Morningside art dealer.
Marta Heartburn Eastern European nightclub vamp. Think Marlene Dietrich
Baron Scarheart Villain of the piece and Barton’s Nemesis. Classic foreign baddie.
Colonel Gardiner Head of British Intelligence and Barton’s commanding office. Old school no nonsense type.
Sir Stanley Fritters Minister for rationing. Upper class Civil servant. Gets kidnapped by Scarheart.
Daphne Fritters Sir Stanley’s daughter. Classic English Rose.
Lady Laxington Society Hostess. Famous for her tea parties.
BBC Announcer Pops up from time to time to set the scene.
Viper’s Nest MC Announcer at the Vipers Nest (may be doubled)
Rodger Secret Agents working for the Colonel. Into innuendo and Wilco musical theatre. They talk in the style of WW2 RAF pilots.
Convicts, Gangsters, Hacks Assorted walk on roles with doubling.
Cabaret Girls Girls who work at the nightclub.
All the characters will be singing, but the tunes are, for the most part, well known tunes with new lyrics.
