Throughout the ages, men of finesse, intelligence and courage have played their part in England’s glorious heritage. Others, like the long line of deceitful, cowardly and conniving Blackadders, have somehow emerged to claim their wrongful position in history.
This is the WWI story of how, destined to have fortune vomit on his eiderdown and to be forever shackled with a Baldrick (the descendent of an unfortunate meeting between a pig-farmer and a bearded lady), Blackadder faced down the slings and arrows of life…. and got very badly hurt indeed.
Playing to large and enthusiastic audiences, Blackadder Goes Forth was a spectacular success. Director Dawn Briggs marshalled a very strong cast and backstage crew to present four episodes from the TV series, concluding with the poignant ‘Goodbyee’.
