Inspired by the true wartime history of the Osiris Players, Imogen Stubbs’s sparkling comedy follows the adventures of a small group of women who come together to form a 'girls only' theatre company to take the plays of Shakespeare around a culture-starved Britain.
While the men are fighting Hitler and the bombs are blitzing London, these hopelessly mismatched women from wildly different social backgrounds embark on a hilarious and crazy adventure, crammed into their battered 1920s Rolls Royce. Together and separately they are forced to discover what life is like without men, and, eventually, how they must survive when they have only each other.
